Red Light Management/Live NationJust a reminder that The Doors‘ surviving members — guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore — will team up for a rare reunion performance tonight at the Homeward Bound Concert, a benefit show taking place at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.
The show, which will raise funds for the California homeless charity PATH, will feature Krieger and Densmore joined by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and a variety of guest singers to perform a set of classic Doors tunes.
At a recent event in Anaheim, California, Krieger told the media that in addition to Novoselic, the evening’s backing group will feature keyboardist Ed Roth, who also is a member of Robby’s new jazz-influenced side project The New Experience.
Krieger said that the event “should be fun,” adding that among the Doors tunes that he’ll be playing are “Roadhouse Blues,” “Hello, I Love You” and “Riders on the Storm.”
The show’s lineup also features Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Fitz and the Tantrums, singer/songwriters Jason Mraz and Ingrid Michaelson, and American Idol champs Phillip Phillips and Maddie Poppe.
Poppe, who won American Idol in 2018 and is just 22 years old, tells ABC Audio that her dad is more excited about the Doors members performing at the concert than her.
“[H]e’s a huge fan,” she explains. “He thought it was super cool that I get to meet them and just be in the same lineup as them…[T]hey’re legendary. So it will be very cool to…be on the same bill as them.”
