UMC/PolydorSoundtracks to a pair of 1979 Who-related movies — the rockumentary The Kids Are Alright and the film adaptation of the 1973 rock opera Quadropheniawill be reissued as two-LP vinyl sets on March 6.

The Kids Are Alright soundtrack, which was released in June 1979, gathers together a career-spanning variety of rare concert and TV performances, most of which were featured in the film of the same name. The album peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than one million copies in the U.S.

Among the tracks on The Kids Are Alright are renditions of “My Generation” and “I Can See for Miles” from The Who’s 1967 appearance on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere” as performed in 1965 on the U.K. TV series Ready Steady Go!, and performances of “Sparks,” “Pinball Wizard” and “See Me, Feel Me” from the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

The record also includes live versions of “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” from a performance shot at London’s Shepperton Film Studios especially for the movie that marked the last time that Keith Moon played with The Who.

The Quadrophenia soundtrack, which was issued in October 1979, featured remixed versions of 10 of the 17 songs from the 1973 Quadrophenia album, as well as three new songs that The Who recorded for the movie. Bassist John Entwistle was responsible for the remixes, while the new tracks were the first recordings by the group to feature the late Moon’s replacement, founding Faces and Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones.

The double-disc soundtrack also includes a side of classic early- and mid-’60s songs, including tunes by James Brown, The Kingsmen, Booker T & The MGs, The Chiffons, The Ronettes and The Crystals.

Both vinyl reissues can be pre-ordered now.
