Eagle Rock EntertainmentZZ Top is giving fans a preview of the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray version of its 2019 documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas, which will be released on February 28.

A video of the Texas trio playing a live rendition of its 1971 gem “Brown Sugar,” not to be confused with the classic Rolling Stones song of the same name, has been posted on the Eagle Rock label’s official YouTube channel.

The performance of the blues-rock burner is included in the DVD/Blu-ray bonus features. It’s one of several early ZZ Top tunes that the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers were captured playing especially for the movie at 140-year-old Gruene Hall, which bills itself as “the oldest continually run dance hall in Texas.”

ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas tells the story of how three quirky blues-loving musicians — guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard — came together to become one of the beloved rock groups in the world.

The movie, which you can pre-order now, features new interviews with Gibbons, Hill and Beard, plus rare archival footage, animated segments and conversations with celebrity fans Billy Bob Thornton and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

In addition to the Gruene Hall performances, the DVD and Blu-ray’s bonus content includes archival footage of ZZ Top playing live between 1976 and 1981.

Coming off its 50th anniversary tour last year, ZZ Top’s 2020 itinerary includes a concert at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo on February 14, a new Las Vegas residency in March, a handful of U.S. performances in late April, and a Canadian tour with Cheap Trick that runs from April 29 to May 24.
