One of the two suspects being sought by the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office has been captured, and the other is still on the run. According to Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed, 36-year-old Ryan Markovich is in the Ozark County jail without bond on a weapon charge and for possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. Forty-two-year-old Jason Laird remains wanted on six warrants.

Markovich had reportedly failed to show up for court earlier this month on the gun charge. Sheriff Reed says Markovich was pulled over last July in Gainesville. Markovich allegedly attempted to use a loaded pistol on the responding deputy, but the weapon jammed.

Sheriff Reed says Markovich was located late Saturday night in a Gainesville residence. Two other individuals were arrested on suspicion of harboring a fugitive. Their names are being withheld until charges are formally filed.

Reed says in addition to the six Ozark County warrants, several other warrants are pending on Laird. The Ozark County sheriff says Laird is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office at 417-679-4633.
