A Baxter County Circuit Court hearing to determine what a Gassville woman charged with stealing money from her employer over a number of years still owes to the victim is set for early March.

Forty-one-year-old Tracy Adams pled guilty to taking money from her employer in late January last year. She was put on probation for 15 years and paid $45,000 in victim restitution at the time.

The question before the court has been: did she take more than the $45,000 that has been repaid and, if so, how much more?

Adams’ attorney, Ben Gibson of Yellville, told the court last Thursday, “We are dealing with a lot of numbers and a lot of people. The hearing may take some time to complete.” He asked the court for a separate setting to hold the restitution hearing.

Adams was arrested after her employer noticed a questionable transaction in his records and launched a probe of his own. It showed Adams had allegedly used a business credit card to pay for a personal debt.

Adams, who worked as business manager for her employer, was eventually fired from her job, and the employer contacted police in early March 2017.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Adams is alleged to have told police she had been stealing from her employer for a number of years.

She was reported to have admitted writing herself extra paychecks and making unauthorized ATM withdrawals and online purchases using the business’ credit cards.

In her position, Adams was reported to have had direct access to many accounts belonging to the business and its owner.
