A Marshall native is set to receive a special award at the Arkansas Country Music Awards ceremony later this year. Heath Sanders will be the first recipient of the Momentum Award.

Nathan Hunnicutt, founder of the Arkansas Country Music Awards, says Sanders stood out in last year’s performance lineup, and he’s thrilled to see Sanders reach the next level.

In December, Sanders signed a recording contract with The Valory Music Company, an imprint of the Big Machine Label Group. Sanders won the 2019 Arkansas Country Music Awards Accoustic Act of the Year award and becomes the first recipient of an Arkansas Counry Music Awards honor to sign with a major label.

Sanders’ tour manager is Rickey Crawford from Mountain Home.

The annual awards show will be held June 1 at Maumelle High School. For more information, visit arkansasmusic.org.
