Over three years after voters approved a landmark ballot initiative in 2016 to allow medical marijuana sales in Arkansas, residents of the Twin Lakes Area will be able to purchase cannabis products locally.

Plant Family Therapeutics will open its doors Monday morning at 9, according to one of the owners, Clint Mickle. The facility is located on U.S. Highway 62/412 East, about 1 mile outside the Mountain Home city limits. The dispensary is open Monday through Saturday, with weekday hours being from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours will be limited on Saturday and are to be announced.

Access to the facility will be controlled, with a state-issued medicinal marijuana card required to enter the building’s waiting area.

Mickle says the staff at Plant Family is dedicated to providing the best possible service to customers of the dispensary.

Plant Family’s goal is to help provide safer treatments than those provided by pharmaceuticals, Mickle explains.

The facility will be staffed to service 60 to 70 patients per day, but Mickle says that volume could be two to three times higher during the initial days of operation. Some of the team members will also be learning new software during the opening days.
