Frontiers Music s.r.l.In January, Blue Öyster Cult released an archival 2014 concert video and album and reissued the out-of-print 1994 studio album Cult Classic, and now the veteran rockers are preparing a similar pair of releases for March.

On March 6, the band will release 40th Anniversary — Agents of Fortune — Live 2016 and a remastered version of its 1998 studio effort Heaven Forbid.

The former release features an intimate April 2016 performance in Hollywood, California, that Blue Öyster Cult gave for an invite-only audience and that was documented for a DirecTV special. The concert featured a full performance of the group’s breakthrough 1976 album Agents of Fortune, which includes the classic hit “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.”

Founding Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard was a special guest at the show, singing and playing guitar on select tunes.

40th Anniversary — Agents of Fortune — Live 2016 will be available as a CD/DVD set, a Blu-ray and a vinyl LP. The CD and Blu-ray boast a number of bonus features, including an interview with the band’s members and a behind-the-scenes spot.

As for Heaven Forbid, it was Blue Öyster Cult’s 13th studio album and its first collection of new original songs since 1988’s Imaginos. Founding guitarist/singer Don “Buck Dharma” Roeser co-wrote 10 of the record’s 11 tracks, most of them with science-fiction/horror writer John Shirley. The album includes the tune “Still Burnin’,” a sequel to the band’s 1981 hit “Burnin’ for You.” Closing out the album is a live version of “In Thee,” which originally appeared on the group’s 1979 album, Mirrors.
