Ben Gibson/Rocket Entertainment; J.RoseElton John and The Rolling Stones were among the winners at the 31th annual Pollstar Awards, which were held Thursday, February 6, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Elton took home the Major Tour of the Year prize for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road trek, while The Stones were awarded Best Rock Tour trophy for their No Filter outing. The awards are given out by Pollstar, the trade publication for the concert industry.

Pollstar.com reports that John was on hand to receive his honor in person at the event, which served as the finale of the Pollstar Live! 2020 conference.

In accepting the award, Elton thanked his agent of 50 years, Howard Rose, and declared, “I’m very competitive so I want to win the f***ing thing next year as well.”

Reflecting on his many successful years in the music business, Elton noted, “To have a career as long as I have, A) you have to a bit of talent, and B) you have to have people who think behind the scenes, like all you people out there tonight.”

He added, “You’re the people who arrange for your artist to be on tour, you book them and advise them. I’ve had such great advice and that’s why I’ve lasted so long I think. Plus the fact I love what I do, and I’m very lucky to be able to do what I do.”

Among the other honorees at this year’s ceremony were Billy Joel, who won in the Best Residency category for his monthly series of Madison Square Garden concerts, and Joan Jett, who was named Best Support/Special Guest Act for her stint on Heart‘s Love Alive tour.
