George Pimentel/Getty ImagesIn December, founding Guess Who singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings began hinting on his social media pages that he and the band’s original lead guitarist, Randy Bachman, were discussing playing some reunion shows in 2020. Now both musicians have confirmed that they’re in the process of scheduling some joint concerts.
Cummings posted a photo on his Facebook page Sunday of him and Bachman on stage together, accompanied with a note that reads, “Dates to be announced soon…”
Several days earlier, Burton posted another photo of him and Randy on Facebook, along with the message: “Currently mulling over what our set list is going to look like for the Bachman Cummings dates…tell ya this much…a lotta hit records that people have heard on the radio for years…should be a pretty solid couple of hours…”
As for Bachman, he posted a note on his own Facebook page on January 30, announcing, “I wanna hear you make some noise. I said, “I WANNA HEAR YOU MAKE SOME NOISE!” Because Burton Cummings and I are reuniting for a string of concert dates this summer!”
Bachman and Cummings wrote or co-wrote, either separately or together, nearly all of The Guess Who’s major hits, including “These Eyes,” “Laughing,” “Undun,” “No Time,” “Share the Land,” and the chart-topping “American Woman” and “No Sugar Tonight.”
Randy left The Guess Who in 1970 and went to have huge success as the co-lead singer and guitarist in Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
While neither Bachman nor Cummings are currently associated with The Guess Who, the two have previously toured together as a duo, most recently in 2009.
