Tim Mosenfelder/WireImageAfter suing his four Aerosmith band mates because they wouldn’t let him perform with them at the Grammys, it appears drummer Joey Kramer was given a reason to finally bury the hatchet.
TMZ reports that the band invited Kramer to join them on stage for their show in Las Vegas. The band is currently kicking around the City of Second Chances for their residency at Park Theater.
Sources close to the band tell TMZ that Kramer wasn’t asked to audition for the gig, either — as they feel the drummer has been practicing enough to keep up.
This is quite the change from the events that cast a shadow upon their Grammys performance.
According to TMZ, Kramer claimed in his lawsuit that after he suffered some minor injuries in spring 2019 that forced him to miss some shows, the other Aerosmith members asked him to basically audition to prove he was “able to play at an appropriate level” before they would allow him to perform with the band again.
Joey also complained in the suit that for his audition, he was asked to play a series of solo rehearsals, drumming along to a “click track” without the other band members present, and that the rest of the group would then listen to recordings of the rehearsals before deciding his fate.
TMZ reports that when Joey finally did record his rehearsals, the other band members decided to not allow him to rejoin the group, telling him he “did not have enough ‘energy’ in the recordings.”
Kramer had asked a court to order Aerosmith to allow him to play with the band for the Grammys, thereby avoiding causing him “irreparable harm” but a judge rejected his argument and the band barred him from their performance.
