New Beatles-themed festival Abbey Road on the Island taking place in September on Long Island, NY

Courtesy of Long Island UniversityThe Beatles-themed festival Abbey Road on the River is partnering with New York’s Long Island University to launch the first Abbey Road on the Island event, a three-day celebration of the Fab Four taking place September 4-6 at the school’s LIU Post campus.

Abbey Road on the Island will feature performances by more than 30 music acts at various outdoor and indoor venues on the campus, which is located in the village of Brookville on New York’s Long Island. Among the confirmed performers are former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber and drummer Steve Holley, renowned producer and Peter & Gordon singer Peter Asher, and several Beatles tribute bands. Among the latter is The Weeklings, a group featuring former Styx member Glen Burtnik.  In addition, Juber will take part in a Q&A session.

The festival also will include guest speakers, lecturers, artists, a Yellow Submarine-themed parade for children, merchandise for sale and more. Visit AbbeyRoadontheIsland.com for full details; more info will be announced in the coming months.

Tickets for Abbey Road on the Island will go on sale to the general public February 28, while a pre-sale will start on February 24. Tickets will be available online at TillesCenter.org or Ticketmaster.com, in person at the Tantleff box office in Brookville, and by phoning at 516-299-3100 or 1-800-745-3000.

Meanwhile, the 2020 edition of Abbey Road on the River takes place May 20-25 at Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville, Indiana, just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. The festival’s performance lineup includes Tommy James & the Shondells, Little River Band, Juber, and The Cyrkle.
