Applications are now being accepted from nonprofits in Baxter, Marion, Fulton and Izard counties for grants through the Twin Lakes Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation.

This year, the Community Foundation is accepting two different kinds of proposals. One is projects with a special emphasis on early literacy, which are eligible for grade-level reading grants. The other is for all other charitable purposes in the four-county area served by the Twin Lakes Community Foundation, although applications from organizations outside of the area who can demonstrate their program provides direct services to the four counties served will be considered.

Twin Lakes Community Foundation Executive Director Gwen Khayat says since the local affiliate was formed in 2002, $320,000 have been awarded in grants, including to The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas, schools and local backpack programs.

To apply, visit arcf.org/givingtree. The deadline to submit applications is Saturday.
