MHHS basketball teams head to Nettleton Friday

High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule, as conference play continues for Mountain Home. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will be in Jonesboro, as they go up against Nettleton.
Mountain Home’s girls are 19-5 on the season and 8-3 in the 5A-East after beating Marion on Tuesday. Nettleton, ranked first in Class 5A and third overall by the Arkansas Sports Media, is 23-3 and 10-1, as they come off an 18-point win over Paragould. The Lady Bombers handed the Lady Raiders their only conference loss of the season on Jan. 24 by a final of 46-37.
The Mountain Home boys are 13-11 overall and 4-7 in the league after falling to Marion three nights ago. Nettleton is 6-16 and 3-8 after dominating Paragould. The Bombers squeaked by the Raiders 41-39 nearly a month ago.
The junior varsity girls’ game tips off at 4:30 at Raider Arena followed by the J.V. boys’ contest. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Also in the 5A-East, Searcy hosts Jonesboro, Paragould travels to West Memphis, and Greene County Tech makes the trip to Marion.

The 2A-1 District Tournament will come to an end at Decatur. Action begins with the third place games, as Yellville-Summit’s girls will face Eureka Springs at 4 p.m., and the Cotter boys take on Decatur at 5:30. In the championship games, Cotter’s girls play Flippin at 7, and the Flippin boys will be paired with Yellville-Summit at 8:30.

The semifinals of the 1A-2 District Tournament will be held at Omaha. On the girls’ side, top-seeded Viola faces Lead Hill at 4 p.m., and Norfork takes on Western Grove at 6:40. On the boys’ bracket, top-seeded Izard County plays Omaha at 5:20, and Viola will be matched up with Western Grove at 8.

Mammoth Spring’s girls will play for the championship of the 1A-3 District Tournament at Maynard. The top-seeded Lady Bears face Hillcrest at 6 p.m.

Melbourne will compete in both title games in the 2A-3 District Tournament at Salem as the No. 1 seed. The Lady Bearkatz will take on Marmaduke at 6 p.m., and the Melbourne boys will go up against Bay at 7:30.

The 3A-1 East District Tournament will continue with its semifinal round at Bergman. In the girls’ games, top-seeded Mountain View plays the host Lady Panthers at 4 p.m., and Valley Springs’ opponent will be Rose Bud at 7. In boys’ action, Mountain View faces No. 1 seed Valley Springs at 5:30, and Bergman takes on Clinton at 8:30.

Jasper’s boys will return to Kingston for the championship game of the 1A-1 District Tournament. The Pirates will play the New School at 7:20.

Elsewhere, Mountain Home Christian Academy travels to Mansfield to face Rolla.
