MHHS, MHJH choirs do well in regional performance assessment

Wednesday night, the Mountain Home choirs hosted the regional performance assessment. The event was held at First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home and featured many local districts and 16 ensembles.

The high school and junior high choirs each scored excellent and superior ratings in both performance and sight reading. The assessment was on a I to V rating system with I being the highest possible score. The choirs scored the following:

High school:
Men’s Choir: Performance: II Excellent overall, Sight Reading: I Superior
Female Select: Performance: II Excellent overall, Sight Reading: I Superior
Bella Voce: Performance: I Superior, Sight Reading: II Excellent
Chamber Singers: Performance: I Superior, Sight Reading: II Excellent

Junior high:
Ninth Grade Women: Performance: II Excellent, Sight Reading: II Excellent
JH Men’s Chorus: Performance: IIR Excellent Recommended, Sight Reading: I Superior
Junior High Select: Performance: II Excellent, Sight Reading: II Excellent

Both the bella voce and chamber choirs will be moving on to the state assessment for high school in April.
The choirs are under the direction of Jeremy and Laken Hopper.
