Regional champions to be crowned Saturday in Arkansas

High school basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule with the conclusion of regional tournament play in Arkansas.

The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will come to an end at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. The third-place games tip off at noon, as Mammoth Spring’s girls face the host Lady Screamin’ Eagles, and the Viola boys take on Hillcrest at 1:30. The finals will be in the evening, as Norfork’s girls take on Viola at 6, and the Mammoth Spring boys will be paired with Izard County at 7:30.

Both of Flippin’s teams will compete for the championship of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Eureka Springs. The Lady Bobcats meet Danville at 6, and Flippin’s boys face Lavaca at 7:30.

The Melbourne girls will look to take the title of the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Clarendon. The Lady Bearkatz take on Marmaduke at 6.

The Class 3A Region 1 Tournament will wrap up at Waldron. Bergman’s boys will play Clinton for third place at 1:30. In the championship games, the girls’ contest between Mountain View and Valley Springs tips off at 6, and the Valley Springs boys will be matched up with Elkins at 7:30.

Rural Special’s girls will compete in the finals of the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament at Bradford. The Lady Rebels face Greers Ferry West Side at 6.

The Harrison girls will take part in the title game of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Berryville. The Lady Goblins take on Farmington at 6.

Jasper’s boys will be back at Alpena for the championship game of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament. The Pirates will play the New School at 7:30.

District play continues in Missouri, as the West Plains boys will be in Marshfield for their opener in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament. The Zizzers will go up against Reeds Spring at 3 p.m.

Forsyth’s girls will return to Strafford for the title game of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament. The Lady Panthers will face the host Lady Indians at 3.

Both of Branson’s teams will be at Parkview High School in Springfield for their first games in the Class 5, District 11 Tournament. The Lady Pirates take on the host Lady Vikings at 1, and the Branson boys play Springfield Central at 2:30.
