A 24-year-old Mountain Home woman appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and pled guilty to stealing a money order inadvertently left on the counter of a local business.

She was put on probation for five years.

On Sept. 17 last year, Ariel Dawn Beck is reported to have approached the victim and engaged in conversation.

Surveillance cameras show the victim, apparently distracted by the conversation with Beck, leave a $190 money order on the counter and walk away.

Beck can then be seen folding the money order and putting it in her bag. She returned to the business where the money order was purchased about an hour later and attempted to cash it.

A store employee refused to cash the money order, and a manager confiscated it from Beck. It was returned to its rightful owner.

Beck was charged with forgery and theft of property.
