Arkansas state championship games postponed until further notice

The Arkansas Activities Association announced Thursday afternoon that all scheduled games for Friday and Saturday at the Arkansas basketball finals in Hot Springs are postponed until further notice in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19, the illness it causes.Games scheduled for Thursday were allowed to be completed.Lance Taylor, director of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), says after speaking with officials with the Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Department of Education and the Governor’s Office, the decision to postpone was made. He adds the No. 1 priority remains the safety of student athletes, coaches, officials and fans.Fans who purchased tickets for the postponed games will be issued full refunds. Anyone that purchased tickets at the local school, should contact the office where the tickets were purchased. Fans who purchased tickets online will be automatically refunded, which could take up to 10 days.The AAA also says this is a fluid situation, and it will release more information on spring sports on Friday.
