26 area athletes named to All-State basketball teams

The Arkansas Activities Association has released its All-State teams from the high school basketball season, and 26 area athletes are on the list.

The Class 5A teams include three players from Mountain Home. Anna Grace Foreman and Kate Gilbert are on the girls’ team, and Wyatt Gilbert is representing the Bomber boys.

Six local athletes are among the Class 2A selections. Kate Cheek of Cotter, Leah Still of Flippin and Melbourne’s Kenley McCarn are on the girls’ roster, and the boys’ team includes Lance May of Flippin, Yellville-Summit’s David Derosier and Layton Hennings of Melbourne.

The Class 1A teams have 10 area athletes on the list. The girls’ squad includes A.J. and Samantha McCandlis and Keyaira Moore of Viola, Terra Godwin and Lauren Mitchell of Mammoth Spring and Jasper’s Emma Lewis. Alex Mero of Mammoth Spring and Izard County’s Justus Cooper, Coby Everett and Caleb Faulkner are on the boys’ team.

Six area basketball players were named All-State for Class 3A. The girls’ team includes Kristan Hargrove of Marshall and Mountain View’s Aubrey Isbell and Josie Storey. Matt Gregg of Marshall, Elijah Royce of Bergman and Valley Springs’ Isaac Rayland were among the boys’ selections.

The Class 4A team includes one athlete from Harrison. Marion Groberg is representing the Lady Goblins on the All-State team.
