Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced the first death from COVID-19 in a second news conference Wednesday afternoon. KFVS in Cape Girardeau reports the first coronavirus-related death in Missouri was in Boone County.On Wednesday afternoon the Kansas City, Mo. Health Department reported its first two cases. One was a woman in her 40s and the other a man in his 30s.The health department started investigating to determine if others who had contact with either the man or woman, both of whom are isolated at their respective homes, are showing symptoms and should be tested or isolated. The cases appear to be unrelated.
Mayor Lyda Krewson announced on Wednesday morning the second presumptive positive case of COVID-19 in St. Louis City.
Earlier on Wednesday, Gov. Parson stopped in Poplar Bluff to talk to community leaders.
He discussed COVID-19 with mayors, emergency management, health officials and law enforcement leaders.
Gov. Parson was going to travel to Hayti and Cape Girardeau also on Wednesday, but those stops were canceled.
Earlier on Wednesday, the governor signed an executive order to postpone all Missouri municipal elections previously scheduled for April 7 to June 2.
He also directed the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the Missouri Department of Economic Department to seek assistance for Missouri businesses.
On Thursday, Parson will meet with Joplin city leaders.
He met with leaders in Kirksville, Hannibal and Columbia on Tuesday.
