Update: Most BC government offices closing to public Monday

The COVID-19 threat has led to Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass announcing late Friday effective Monday public access to county offices will be suspended.Sheriff John Montgomery says his administrative offices will remain open during the day Monday through Friday, with staff taking cautions for the coronavirus. Sheriff Montgomery says the lobby of the jail will also remain open during evenings for those needing the assistance of an officer. The jail remains closed to visitors.

Elsewhere across Baxter County, Judge Pendergrass says elected officials and employees will staff offices and will be available by phone, email, or appointment.

Individuals will be subject to screening upon entering a county building with appointment.

Pendergrass asks those wishing to conduct county business to utilize online and telephone services.
