Due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the deadline to file federal income tax returns has been extended. Taxes from the 2019 year will now be due July 15.
Mountain Home city treasurer and H&R Block owner Marshella Norell says at first, the deadline had been extended to pay income taxes. She says the government later extended the deadline to file on Friday.
Norell says she anticipates the filing deadline for state income taxes in Arkansas will also be extended.
As anticipated, Governor Asa Hutchison announced deadline changes Monday regarding the filing deadline for state income taxes. In his Monday afternoon briefing, Hutchinson said the filing and payment deadline for individuals mirrors the extended federal deadline to July 15.
The deadline for corporate filers and those making estimated payments remains unchanged.
