The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled full road closures over the Bull Shoals and Norfork dams, with the first one beginning on Monday.

From Monday morning at 8 until Tuesday evening at 5:30 State Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam will be closed.

Motorists will need to plan an alternate route through during the road closure. Travel to locations on Highway 178 past the Bull Shoals Dam closure will require a detour using State Highway 178 through Bull Shoals and Flippin to U.S. Highway 62\412, Highway 126 through Midway and Highway 178 through Lakeview.

The second closure on Norfork Dam begins Wednesday morning at 8 and continues until Friday evening at 5:30.

Motorists will need to plan an alternate route during the road closure. Travel to locations on State Highway 177 past the Norfork
Dam closure will require a detour using State Highways 5 and 56 through Calico Rock and Highway 223 through Pineville.

After April 3, one lane across Norfork Dam will continue to be closed until Oct. 15.

In both cases, the lane closures are necessary to remove equipment used to perform maintenance on the structures’ sluice gates.

The closures have been coordinated with local emergency and law enforcement agencies.

Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mountain Home Project Office say they regret any inconvenience the closures may cause.
