The recent death of the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office resident celebrity, Cornbread the rescue cat, has brought an unexpected level of outpouring of sympathy.
Sheriff John Montgomery says Cornbread had lived a happy, “spoiled” life.
Listen:
Montgomery says Cornbread had quite an extended amount of friends, thanks to a number of news reports.
Listen:
Cornbread also often walked out to greet the public who seemed to love her, as well.
Listen:
Montgomery says Cornbread won the hearts of some who were not initially fond of cats.
Her care was made possible over the years by donations from employees and from a few members of the community, and for that Montgomery says his department will always be grateful.
Cornbread was buried in a grassy area between two trees she often looked out at from the window. A permanent memorial marker is planned at her gravesite.
