The City of Mountain Home announced the closure of playgrounds, pavilions and restrooms at all city parks until at least April 30.The decision was made as Governor Asa Hutchinson and his cabinet continue to state any and all legal COVID-19 mitigation measures must be enacted, says a news release from the city. The city will continue to be vigilant in practicing mitigation measures based on state and federal recommendations.Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams encourages all citizens to stay home, if possible, and to be vigilant in practicing social distancing. He also reminds citizens the Mountain Home Police Department is providing a free program for pick-up and delivery of groceries and prescription medications.

“This program will serve our senior citizens, 65 years of age and older, living within the city limits of Mountain Home,” says Adams. “The purpose of this service is to help protect our senior citizens due to their high risk of health issues associated with COVID-19. The program will continue until further notice.”

The mayor adds the city will continue to provide all services and support to its citizens. Mayor Adams says, “Our number one priority is the safety and well being of our community. The city will continue to stay in contact with local officials and follow state, federal and CDC guidelines and recommendations.”

The city also reminds citizens they can monitor the COVID-19 status in the state by visiting the Arkansas Department of Health’s website at https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/novel-coronavirus.

These stats include persons infected, presumed infected and persons under investigations. This site also provides guidance for different businesses, organizations and entities that need to be followed, as well as a map of the State of Arkansas showing the statistics for each county.
