During the past few weeks, many area residents have been facing financial struggles, and area restaurants have unexpectedly lost business due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A new project being implemented this week is hoping to help both groups.

Mountain Home Cares will have the first of what organizers hope will be eight nights of providing meals from local restaurants to area residents with a sincere need for food this Friday. The event begins at 4 at the Roller Hall portico on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) where free meals from Holy Smokes will be distributed.

Christy Keirn from ASUMH explains how the project got started.
