A 19-year-old is being held in the Marion County Detention Center charged with first-degree murder, after the discovery of a body last Thursday by a walker. Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans says Caleb William Nance is also charged with a felony count of tampering with physical evidence.

A second individual, 63-year-old William Dean Nance, is being held on felony charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution and tampering with evidence. Both men are from Marion County.

Sheriff Evans says 911 Dispatch was notified Thursday afternoon at approximately 2:39 of a body discovered by a walker en route to check the mail in the southwest part of Marion County.

Deputies and investigators responded to the scene and located the body of 49-year-old Jerry Don Hensley of Marion County in a field beside a motorcycle.

Sheriff Evans says the initial investigation reflected the body appeared to have two gunshot wounds. Arrangements were made to have the body sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

During the scope of the homicide investigation, the evidence collected and interviews conducted led authorities to the arrests of the two suspects.

Caleb Nance also faces an unrelated misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He is being held on a bond in excess of $1M.

William Nance also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing governmental operations. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Marion County authorities were assisted at the crime scene by Arkansas State Police investigators.
