High school spring sports in Arkansas may not resume following action by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) Wednesday. The AAA has extended its “COVID-19 dead period” for all AAA schools through May 30. With the postseason for baseball, softball and track and field scheduled for early and mid May, it appears unlikely those sports will resume. Officially, those sports seasons are suspended at this time by the AAA.

During the dead period, coaches are prohibited from engaging in any type of face-to-face contact, including practicing, training, weight lifting, tryouts, competition or travel. Also, school athletic facilities will be closed during this period.
