BC revenues continue to go up prior to COVID-19 impact

Sales tax numbers in Baxter County continue to be above projection for the time being. The latest monthly numbers show both the sales and jail taxes were higher than the same time last year, but Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize says that will most likely not last.

The numbers represent sales for the month of January.

Mountain Home received $170,351 from the county, which is a decrease of over $31,400 from the previous month. The city’s sales tax is at $400,558, up over $37 from the same time last year. Mountain Home brought in $150,209 in public safety sales tax revenues, which is an increase of almost $14,000 from a year ago.

The Baxter County sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities. In addition to Mountain Home, Gassville received $28,437, Cotter got $13,274, Lakeview’s share was $10,140, Norfork took in $6,993, Salesville received $6,158, Briarcliff’s share was $3,229, and Big Flat took in $1,423.
