Credit: dhlovelifeNeil Young has posted the third installment of his recently announced “Fireside Sessions” performances in the “Hearse Theater” section of his Neil Young Archives website.

All of the videos have featured Young playing solo renditions of various songs from his back catalog — including many rarely performed tunes — at his Colorado residence, shot by his wife, actress Daryl Hannah.

The new session, which runs 29 minutes long, begins with footage of one of Young’s dogs frolicking in the snow, then shows Neil playing an acoustic version of “New Mama,” a song from his 1973 album Tonight’s the Night, outside his house.

The action then moves indoors, where Young switches between piano and guitar for his performances. His set includes renditions of “See the Sky About to Rain,” from 1974’s On the Beach; his 1968 Buffalo Springfield gem “I Am a Child”; “Throw Your Hatred Down,” from his 1995 collaborative album with Pearl Jam, Mirror Ball; “World on a String,” another song from Tonight’s the Night; and his 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young classic “Helpless.”

Neil also delivers a brief impromptu acoustic tune that apparently is called “Break the Chain.”

The video ends with Young back outside, as he gives a twilight acoustic performance of “Already One,” a tune from his 1978 album, Comes a Time.

All the “Fireside Sessions” videos also have featured mock commercials for the events’ “sponsor,” water.

You also can still watch the first two “Fireside Sessions” on one of the news pages on Young’s website. Today, on the same page, Young is premiering a clip from his upcoming concert film and album Young Shakespeare, a performance of “Cowgirl in the Sand.” Young Shakespeare, due out later this year, was recorded in January 1971 at the American Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Connecticut.
