Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesIn a new Rolling Stone interview, David Crosby discusses his efforts to make peace with Neil Young and convince him to take part in a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young reunion.
Regarding whether he thinks he and Young will sing together again, Crosby, who’s been on the outs with Neil since making negative remarks about Neil’s then-girlfriend, now-wife Daryl Hannah in a 2014 interview, says, “No.”
Crosby reveals that he tried apologizing multiple times to Young, including sending him a long, sincere email explaining that he feels a CSNY reunion could help convince a lot of people to vote against Donald Trump in the next presidential election, but says he “got a large, empty, echoing silence back.”
As David recalls, “I said, ‘We’re faced with a horrible situation and we have a big voice, we could probably sway the outcome.’ And I said, ‘I’m really sorry I shot my mouth off about your girlfriend. I really am.'”
Crosby adds that he “knows Stephen [Stills] would love to do” a reunion, although he’s not sure about Graham Nash, with whom he’s also been feuding in recent years.
“Nash, I haven’t talked to in a long time,” David admits. “And he has been, in the past anyway, a ball of anger, and not somebody fun to have anything to do with. But he’s good at what he does, and he’s a pro. We all are.”
Meanwhile, Crosby will serve as a judge today at 3 p.m. PT at the launch of the WEEDCon 420 Cup Awards, a competition to choose the best cannabis products and varieties. David will be part of a judging panel that also includes cannabis industry professionals, dispensary buyers and social media influencers. A final awards ceremony will be held on May 20.
