Credit: Criss CainHeart frontwoman Ann Wilson‘s spring U.S. solo tour, which had been scheduled to kick off April 30 in Englewood, New Jersey, has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In message on her official website, Wilson explains that although she tried to reschedule her tour dates, “given the current circumstances and the fact that we can’t predict when it’ll be safe to gather again, we’re canceling the tour for the safety of all.”
Ann asks that people who bought tickets to her shows contact their point of purchase to find out about refunds.
She adds, “I’m very grateful to my fans, the promoters, and the venues for supporting me and I can’t wait to see you again. Stay safe!”
Wilson’s schedule still includes four U.K. concerts in mid-July, as well as a July 31 performance at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with The Big Takeover, Wilson, who in 2019 toured with Heart for the first time in almost three years, reveals that she’s been writing a lot of new songs, several of which she intends to debut when she hits the road again with her solo band.
The 69-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer reports that one of the new tunes is called “Black Wing,” which she says wrote after watching a bird one day near her riverside home in rural Florida, where she moved with her husband about a year ago.
“It’s pretty poetic,” she notes,” adding that the song is about a bird that’s “a messenger from the world and bringing with it all the news.”
Wilson adds, “When I wrote that song, I didn’t have any idea about anything like the virus or being sequestered, but now it’s started hitting me how meaningful it is.”
