(c) Yann OrhanHappy news to report about singer Marianne Faithfull, who’d been hospitalized in London since March 31 after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus. According to a message on her official website, the 73-year-old British singer and actress was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after 22 days there.
“She will continue to recuperate in London,” the note reports. “Marianne thanks you all for your kind messages of concern which have meant a great deal through what is a such a difficult time for so many. She is also very grateful to all the [National Health Service] staff who cared for her at the hospital and, without doubt, saved her life.”
Faithfull’s most recent album, Negative Capability, was released in 2018. It featured collaborations with Nick Cave and ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a movie based on Marianne’s 1994 memoir, Faithfull, was in the works that will star Lucy Boynton, who also appeared in the 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film will be directed by Ian Bonhote, who also directed the acclaimed documentary McQueen, about late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
