The upbeat track, which is available now as a digital download and via streaming services, features Love accompanied by the Beach Boys touring group, including Mike’s longtime band mate, Bruce Johnston, with a guest appearance by actor/musician John Stamos on drums. A companion video also debuted today at Love’s official YouTube channel.

The musicians and singers all recorded their parts separately because of the lockdown.

“This Too Shall Pass” paintS a picture of how our lives have changed because of the COVID-19 crisis. The tune also offers a shout-out to those people helping to keep us safe and healthy during the pandemic — first responders, National Guard members, doctors and nurses.

“A lifetime of performing to millions of people all over the world and suddenly everything came to a halt,” Mike notes in a statement.

He adds with regard to the new song and its theme, “I’ve lived through enough good times and bad to know that eventually, this too shall pass, and better days are yet to come. With today being May Day, new beginnings are around corner and as the lyrics of this song say, ‘we’ll get back to havin’ fun, fun, fun in the sun.'”

All royalties earned by Love and his label from “This Too Shall Pass” will be donated to the Feeding America charity’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which aids U.S. food banks supporting communities affected by the pandemic.
