The Baxter County Courthouse and the Annex on Seventh Street will reopen Monday to limited traffic.

Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass says due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is still recommended that those wishing to conduct in-person transactions with county offices call ahead for an appointment. Judge Pendergrass says most traffic will be limited to one entry at a time in each office. Until business is completed with the one individual, all others will be directed to wait outside the entry door of the respective office, in the foyer or the hallway, with social distancing expected and enforced.Entry to the Baxter County Courthouse will be through either the south or north doors. Accommodations will be addressed with any inclement weather.Visitors should expect to answer questions and have their temperature checked upon entry to the county facilities.
Questions about the reopening should be directed to the office one plans to visit, including county clerk, judge, treasurer, assessor, collector, veterans service or extension.
Those with questions about the reopening are asked to call the office they wish to visit for further details.
The sheriff’s office will continue operating as it has been during the pandemic. Visitation is still prohibited at the 911 facility and the jail and will be addressed in the near future.
The court complex on Sixth Street will not open prior to May 15 following an order from the Arkansas Supreme Court.
The Baxter County Hazardous Waste Collection Center, located along State Highway 5 South, will not reopen until June 1.
Beginning the morning of May 16, the Baxter County Farmers’ Market will begin operation. All vendors have been instructed social distancing is expected, and if not possible, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is expected.
Judge Pendergrass says in all cases Arkansas Department of Health guidelines should be followed before visiting. If you are or have been sick recently, you are directed to remain at home. Those who have traveled outside the county and/or to designated states, are also directed to stay home until the required number of days has expired.
Pendergrass says if these guidelines are not adhered to, and/or there is another break out of positive COVID19 cases, all the reopenings will be canceled immediately.
