A Boone County man, 45-year-old Nelson Daniel of Harrison, has been arrested and charged with one count of rape, a Class Y felony, the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, the charge follows an investigation by the Arkansas State Police’s Crimes Against Children Division.
The investigation came after a report in early March involving Daniel and the daughter of a former girlfriend. The juvenile was reportedly between 10 and 13 years old at the time of the alleged incident occurring between 2013 and 2016.
During a post Miranda interview at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office April 23, Daniel allegedly provided details on the incident occurring one evening after everyone in the household went to bed, and he entered the girl’s room.
The incident came to light when the girl’s father told law enforcement his daughter had been “acting strange and having suicidal thoughts.”
Daniel was booked into the Boone County jail on a $250,000 bond.
