New Rolling Stones single, “Living in a Ghost Town,” tops the 'Billboard' Rock Digital Song Sales chart

Polydor RecordsLast week, The Rolling Stones‘ new single, the reggae-flavored, COVID-19-themed “Living in a Ghost Town,” debuted on multiple Billboard charts, and now the track has moved further up those respective tallies after its first full week of release.

“Living in a Ghost Town” has reached #1 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart after bowing at #3 the previous week. The Stones’ first-ever appearance at the top of that list comes after the tune sold 16,000 downloads during the latest tracking period, April 24-30, Nielsen Music/MRC Data reports.

The song also catapulted from #30 to #3 on the Hot Rock Songs chart, which is based on streaming, sales and airplay, after notching 1.8 million U.S. streams and 1.6 million audience impressions.

In addition, “Living in a Ghost Town” vaulted from #44 to #34 on Billboard‘s Rock Airplay chart, while debuting at #21 on the Adult Alternative Songs tally.

The song is expected to be part of The Rolling Stones’ next studio album, which will be the band’s first collection of new original tunes since 2005’s A Bigger Bang. No word yet when the new record will be ready for release.
