Rated PG, a compilation of Peter Gabriel songs that have been featured in various movies, will receive a wide release June 12 on CD and as a black-vinyl LP, after getting its initial release on Record Store Day 2019 as a limited-edition picture disc.
The 10-track collection, which can be pre-ordered now, is made up mostly of lesser-known tunes, although it does include Gabriel’s 1986 Billboard top-30 hit “In Your Eyes,” which was featured prominently in the 1989 film Say Anything.
Other songs featured on Rated PG include “That’ll Do” from Babe 2: Pig in the City, “Down to Earth” from Wall-E, “Taboo” from Natural Born Killers, and “Walk Through the Fire,” from Against All Odds.
The new vinyl version of Rated PG was half-speed mastered and comes with a download code allowing access to a high-res digital version of the album.
Besides contributing individual songs to many movies over the years, Gabriel — who as a teenager left film school to pursue a career in music — created soundtrack music for such films as 1985’s Birdy, 1989’s The Last Temptation of Christ and 2002’s Rabbit-Proof Fence.
