Hogs rank second all-time in baseball draftees among SEC schools

wireready_05-13-2020-09-02-03_00149_razorbacksbaseball

Arkansas baseball has been well-represented in Major League Baseball Draft history, boasting 232 picks since 1965. With the draft less than a month away, take a look back at every Razorback drafted in school history, including three Mountain Home players and the current Bombers’ head coach.

By the numbers:
232 – Total number of Razorbacks drafted since 1965
149 – Hogs taken since joining the Southeastern Conference
109 – Players drafted under head coach Dave Van Horn
11 – Highest number of Razorbacks drafted in one year (2013 & 2018)
8 – Number of first-round draft picks, none in the same year
1 – Only one top overall pick – Jeff King in 1986 by the Pirates

Key: Players selected in the June first-year player draft unless otherwise noted. Following the 1987 season there has only been one draft (June Draft). The first MLB Draft was held in 1965. Prior to 1965, players just signed professional contracts once their collegiate careers were over.

$ – Selected in January draft
% – Selected in June secondary draft
* – Played or plays in the Major Leagues
^ – Returned to school
