earMUSICAlice Cooper released a new single today titled “Don’t Give Up,” focusing on life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s a song about what we’ve all been going through right now and about keeping our heads up and fighting back together,” Cooper explains in a statement. “And whatever you do — Don’t Give Up!”

The track is available now as a digital download and via streaming services. In addition, a companion video for the tune debuted today on Alice’s official YouTube channel.

Earlier this month, Cooper asked fans to contribute to the video by submitting photos of themselves holding up signs featuring lyrics from the song, along with messages of unity. More than 20,000 fans responded, and many of the pics were incorporated into the clip, which also features footage of Alice and members of his backing band shot separately while self-isolating.

“Don’t Give Up” features spoken-word verses over an ominous-sounding chord progression, followed by an uplifting, rocking chorus.

“Yeah, I know you’re struggling right now. We all are, in different ways,” Cooper says at the beginning of the song. “It’s like a new world that we don’t even know. It’s hard to sleep, even harder to dream. But look, you’ve got seven billion brothers and sisters all in the same boat. So don’t panic.”

Then, in the chorus, he sings, “We’re all hanging on by a thread/We’re all staring at the razor’s edge/But we’re not gonna step of the ledge, no!”

A limited-edition seven-inch vinyl picture disc of “Don’t Give Up” will be released on August 14, and is available for pre-order now.

Alice finished recording “Don’t Give Up” while working on his upcoming studio album in self-quarantine. The track was produced by frequent Cooper collaborator Bob Ezrin.
