Frontiers Music srlDennis DeYoung recently debuted an official video for his new tune “To the Good Old Days,” a duet with Julian Lennon that will appear on the ex-Styx singer/keyboardist’s forthcoming solo album, 26 East, Vol. 1.

You can check out the clip now at DeYoung’s official YouTube channel.

To create the video, DeYoung delved into his archives for rare home movies and photos from throughout his life, including from his childhood, his years as a young father and husband, and with his early pre-Styx bands with John and Chuck Pannozzo, The Tradewinds and TW4.

Dennis also posted a video on YouTube of him talking about the “To the Good Old Days” visual.

“I want everyone to enjoy this video ’cause, let me just say, I’m in love with it,” DeYoung notes. “I love the song, of course, but I love this video, ’cause it’s my life…in home movies and old still photographs.”

He adds, “The thing that’s most important is, it’s just honesty…I’m not trying to be a big-shot rock star. It’s just my life, and I’m willing to share it with you at this point considering…I’m 73, where am I going? Nowhere.”

The end of the “To the Good Old Days” video features photographic tributes to some of Dennis’ departed friends and family members, including founding Styx drummer John Panozzo, as well as a photo of Lennon with his late mother, Cynthia.

It also includes a segment featuring 26 East, Vol. 1‘s final song, “A.D. 2020,” a short tune that revisits the melody of the 1981 Styx song “A.D. 1928” that DeYoung plays on accordion, the instrument he initially played with The Tradewinds.

26 East, Vol. 1, which you can pre-order now, gets its release this Friday, May 22.
