A cat scratch has landed a Bull Shoals man behind bars on several felony charges. Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Wayne Smith was arrested Monday for the incident which happened earlier this month. It’s his second felony arrest this year for assault charges involving a female he was living with.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the latest case which occurred May 3, Smith’s child was playing with his girlfriend’s child. As the two were tossing a kitten between them, the cat scratched Smith’s child. The female told Bull Shoals Police when this happened, Smith became very upset, threatened to kill her son and began breaking things in the house and threatened to kill both her and her child if she called the police. She went to pack her clothes, and Smith allegedly grabbed a large kitchen knife, brandished it towards her and threatened to slit her throat.

During the investigation, the female told police Smith frequently talks about extremely dark subjects and said if anyone came to arrest him or take his children, he would “kill everyone.”

Smith is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a minor. His bond is set at $50,000.

In January, Smith was arrested after he allegedly slapped his then girlfriend and held a gun to her head.
