2020 takes over as wettest May in MH history, top 10 wettest month ever

Thanks to heavy rainfall Friday morning, May of 2020 has taken over as the wettest May in Mountain Home history, and the month now ranks in the top 10 of the wettest months ever.

At the KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot studios, the official reporting station in Mountain Home for the National Weather Service, 1.19 inches of rain were recorded at 7 Friday morning. Since that time, another 2.5 inches of rain have fallen, bringing the May total to 13.05 inches.

The previous record rainfall for the month of May was 11.87 inches set in 1946.

This month has also moved into the top 10 wettest months of all-time in Mountain Home. The 13.05 inches makes May the seventh wettest in history.

The most rain ever recorded in a single month in Mountain Home was 16.87 inches in April of 1927. That means with nine days left in the month, only 3.82 inches of rain are needed to break the all-time record.
