Mountain Home loses another prominent attorney

Mountain Home has lost its second prominent attorney in just over one week. Lane H. Strother died Monday at his residence.

Strother graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1968, earned his Masters of Education from the University of Arkansas in 1969 and earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, School of Law in 1979.

Strother was born in southwest Oklahoma and moved to Arkansas in 1956. He joined the U.S. Army after attending college, serving as a 1st Lieutenant at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Upon completing his military service, Strother worked as associate director of Development for Ouachita Baptist University.

He and his wife, Judith, formed the Strother Law Firm in Mountain Home in 1981. Their daughter Jodi joined the firm in 1995.

Strother was appointed as a special justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court in 2008. He was a member of the Mountain Home City Council from 1990-94. He also served on numerous boards including the Twin Lakes Community Foundation, Hospice of the Ozarks, ASU-Mountain Home Development Council, Baxter Regional Medical Center Professional Advisory Council and the Ouachita Baptist University Development Council.
