Area man fatally strikes construction worker on interstate

An area man was injured when his vehicle fatally struck a construction worker Saturday evening on Interstate 555. The severity of the injuries to 27-year-old Kristopher Gould of Mammoth Spring is not listed on the Arkansas State Police report, but 22-year-old Preston Brayfield of Kansas City was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gould was traveling in the Poinsett County town of Tyronza when his vehicle reportedly crossed over the divider barrels and struck Brayfield. The vehicle left the east side of the road, overturned and came to rest in a field.

The accident occurred at 7:44 p.m.
