Local COVID-19 numbers rise; Baxter County reaches double digits

As the COVID-19 counts continue to rise on the statewide level in Arkansas and Missouri, the number of confirmed cases is also increasing at the local level.

Baxter County’s coronavirus count has reached double digits. According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the county’s number of confirmed cases went from nine to 11. Five cases are active with six recoveries.

Marion County continues to have one confirmed case of coronavirus. That case was self-reported by a Flippin resident who believed he contracted the virus in March on a return flight home from Liberia. The health department’s report shows he has recovered.

Izard County has had the highest concentration of COVID-19 in the area with 16 positive results, with two still active and 14 recovered. In other portions of North Central Arkansas, Fulton County has seven confirmed cases with four recoveries. Searcy County has also had seven positive results, but only one remains active. Stone County also has one active case out of the nine confirmed by the health department, Boone County has six with four recoveries, and none of Newton County’s three cases are active.

In Missouri, Ozark County continues to report zero positive tests. Howell County has seven confirmed coronavirus cases, Taney County has 13, and according to KYTV/KSPR, Douglas County has its first positive result.
