A Clarkridge man arrested on drug charges in March and May appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Fifty-one-year-old Tommy Raymond Hitt II did not enter a formal plea to the new charges against him, telling Circuit Judge Gordon Webb he wanted to talk to a lawyer first. He was ordered to reappear late next month.

Hitt, who was on parole at the time of his latest arrests, was stopped for speeding March 4 by a Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) officer along Locust Street.

The officer searched Hitt and found slightly more than $1,100 in cash. A backpack was also found containing a plastic bag holding 1.1 pounds of marijuana. Hitt posted a $5,000 bond in that case, according to court records.

About two months later, the same MHPD officer stopped Hitt after observing his vehicle weaving from one lane to another on State Highway 201 North.

The SUV driven by Hitt was finally stopped when two other MHPD officers made a barrier out of their patrol vehicles.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hitt began resisting arrest and multiple stun guns were used to bring him under control.

The officers observed Hitt was attempting to eat something. After he ceased resisting, Hitt is reported to have spit out a small plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance field testing positive for methamphetamine.

Criminal cases have been set up on Hitt since 2016. The charges have mainly been drug related, but also include being a felon in possession of a firearm, breaking and entering and criminal trespass.

He is an inmate in the Baxter County jail.
