Protests continue following the recent death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and Marion County officials are preparing for a protest in Yellville. Marion County Judge John Massey says the courthouse and other county offices will close Friday afternoon at 12:30, and the local protest is scheduled for 1.

Judge Massey says he isn’t completely sure if the protest will occur, but the safety of the county’s employees is one of his main priorities.

Judge Massey says Friday’s protest is anticipated to be near the courthouse, and he’s currently unaware of any others to occur in Yellville.

One protest occurred Thursday in Harrison, and another is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson says protestors will organize on the parking lot of the old Harrison Junior High School at 4.

Currently, Baxter County officials have not been notified of any protests in Mountain Home.
