Fulton County authorities have arrested 51-year-old Tommy Gene Rodgers following a domestic incident late last month at a residence along Copperhead Road in the Viola area.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Rogers allegedly had an argument with family members leading him to threaten to kill a woman.

He reportedly went to a camper, retrieved a .22 caliber rifle and pointed it at three individuals, including an infant. He allegedly asked one of the two adults “if he was ready to die.”

Rodgers took the three individuals inside his home and waited for law enforcement.

Rogers’ father is reported to have taken the weapon from his son and told him he was calling the police. Rogers then fled into nearby woods.

Officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the Salem Police Department arrived but were unable to locate Rogers.

A short time later, Rogers’ father notified law enforcement his son was headed to a relative’s home. He was located at the relative’s home and taken into custody, after first refusing to comply.

Rogers has been charged with two felony counts of terroristic threatening and three felony counts of aggravated assault. He also faces misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and resisting arrest.

His bond was set at $25,000.
