Jarretts win Cougar Open at Turkey Mountain

The Izard County High School Athletic Department held its Cougar Open Saturday at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain in Horseshoe Bend.

Willie and Billy Jarrett took the Championship Flight after shooting a 17-under-par 56. Preston Harmon and Cam McKinney took the tiebreaker for second place over the teams of Steve Powell and Jeremy Wooldridge and Al and Dylan Smith, as all three teams finished two strokes back.

Four teams ended up with an eight-under-par 65 in the A Flight. Geoff and Shelly King won the tiebreaker, Frank Proctor and Jeannie Moore were second, Rick Hall and Mike Finley took third place, and John and Alicia Thurman were fourth.

Four teams also ended up at the top of the B Flight at four-under-par 69. The tiebreaker went to John Turner and Tony Hall, Tanner Ring and Tyler Gatlin finished second, Michael Hurtt and Larry Hodge ended up third, and Jeff Rider and Derek Bramlett took fourth place.

The C Flight ended up with four teams at the top at even-par 73. Dennis and Susan Thielmier won the tiebreaker, Joe Belvedresi and Gurvis Owen were second, Jordan Hunter and Bryan Cliff came away in third place, and Ryan Rich and Casey York finished fourth.
